35, chapter 3-2f and 3-2g consists of subjects regarding the economic status and generational
co-cultures. Socioeconomic status is the position of a person based on their income,
education, or occupation. Consisting of the low, middle, and high class. Afterward
the chapter goes on to speak on habits or co-cultures that different economic
status families had! For example, low-class families emphasize obedience and acceptance
of others, while high-class families perform fewer engagement cues and tend to
disengage more! The two subcategories both socioeconomic status and
age/generation has a lot of emphasis on co-cultures! Age/generation starts
off by mentioning some generational co-cultures. People who grew up during the
great depressions tend to be more frugal than other generations. Millennials,
which are people who grew up during the ’90s have never known life without a
computer, or how baby boomers (people who grew up during the ’60s) question authority!
Later, the chapter brings up the possibility of challenges between different
generations due to co-cultural orientation! A prime example of this is if a
person who aged earlier than the ’60s were to interact with a millennial, there
might be a misunderstanding in the form and how respect is shown! Chapter 3
also brings up topics referring to people and culture like Race, Ethnicity, Religion, and even Sex and Gender. The chapter puts a lot of emphasis on culture and
communication between people of all sexes and cultures! Potential Barriers between
people consist of anxiety, stereotyping, incompatible communication codes, and
incompatible norms and values! By acquiring accurate information about other
cultures' values and practices and adopting an appropriate attitude it is possible
to prevail the cultural barriers! Chapter 9 is about the nature and types of
groups. Like social groups, support groups, interest groups, and service groups.
These groups are what make up American society and culture. The way chapter 9
was presented was clear and well-founded. They were able to elaborate on every
single type of people's group and go in-depth onto each topic. For the most part
chapter, 9 was presented well with near to zero mistakes and overall A grade
performance! Discussing conflicts in groups due to mal communication. The performance
when chapter 10 was introduced was excellent! Information was presented
smoothly and correctly! Elaborating on different leadership roles and problem-solving! Going in-depth speaking on procedural roles and shared leadership responsibilities,
which is the core principle of this chapter. Overall groups 1, 2, and 3 did an outstanding
job elaborating and summarizing chapters 3, 9, and 10. Having been able to learn
from peers rather than just the teacher was great practice and a great way to
getting through chapters efficiently!
